Merliance is a unique blend made of 100% merlot varietal grown on Long Island and made exclusively by the members of the Long Island Merlot Alliance.

The purpose of this blend is to showcase to the world that Long Island’s Merlot wines have their own unique and distinct character. The blend was created by the 5 member winemakers from the best of of each year’s vintage. The goal is to define the characteristics of the variety, and demonstrate the strength of the Long Island terroir, creating a wine that becomes something more than the sum of its parts.

The wine is produced from low yields, under our Long Island maritime climate, benefiting from the moderating effects of the three bodies of water surrounding the vineyards - the Long Island Sound, the Peconic Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Handcrafted and utilizing each producer’s individual techniques, know-how and tradition, this artisan wine is the first of its kind from Long Island, a cooperative winemaking effort made to highlight the signature variety of the region.

Merliance is the emblem of the Alliance, raising the bar of wine quality and creating a sense of community between the members and their wines. Each producer is responsible to adhere to the best sustainable viticultural practices and winemaking techniques as dictated in the mission statement, in order to produce a wine that symbolizes our cooperation and sense of place.
